Anil Deshmukh on MVA government: For the second time in last four months, senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh claimed today (May 24) that he was given an offer to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and help topple the erstwhile Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
Almost one year before the Karnataka Assembly elections, the hijab row was triggered by the ruling establishment (BJP government) banning the hijab in the state's education institutes. Now, since the government is changed in Karnataka and Congress came to power, several sections are demanding the removal of the ban.
Bihar lightning deaths: In a tragic incident, at least six people were killed in lightning strikes in different parts of Bihar on Tuesday. According to the Chief Minister's Office, three people were killed in the Darbhanga district, two persons in Begusarai and one person in Vaishali.

Will Rs 1,000 notes make a comeback after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the discontinuation of Rs 2,000 currency notes from the market. Well speaking on the matter, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has said that the RBI does not have any plans to re-introduce Rs 1,000 notes after its order to withdraw Rs 2,000 denomination from circulation.
Former Union Minister P Chidambaram on Monday took a dig at the Centre after RBI's decision to withdraw Rs 2,000 notes from circulation saying BJP's spin that the notes are being withdrawn to unearth black money stands demolished as the banks have clarified that no identity, no forms and no proof will be required to exchange them. 

G20 meet in Kashmir: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti hit out at the BJP government over the G20 summit which will be held in Jammu and Kashmir from May 22 to 24 and said that the saffron party has hijacked the event of the country. She further said that the ruling BJP trying to portray to the world that everything is fine.
